Rain & Wind Leading to depression and travel?

Even though I spend the large percentage of most days indoors, I love the sun - it gives me energy and elevates my mood. The problem is I haven't seen the sun much at all lately ... a lot of rain here in the Pacific NW. It isn't like I didn't know that was going to happen when I moved my family back here in 2004, but last year was mild and easy to deal with. I'm having a harder time this year and need to figure out a way (ways) to deal with it.

For the past month I have been very close to getting in the car and driving south for awhile, but I have so much to do and would miss my girls too much. My wife is now begging me to go somewhere before I lose my mind ... (not that I ever had it). Maybe if I can find a time window, I'll head out to the islands and spend some time on the beach.

Anyone have any better suggestions?

Thanks for writing Maris. It is definitely nice to see the sun and know that it still exists.

The cold doesn't bother me nearly as much as rain - in fact it makes the skiing a lot better!

Exercise definitely helps my mood no matter what the weather is like. I like chocolate too much and have to stay away from it as much or possible - or I have to exercise even more ... :)
