I have to admit that I was one of the few Sonics fans who last year wanted the Sonics to trade Ray Allen before the trading deadline. I have a feeling that they might have - if there were any takers.
While Ray has proven he can score, sometimes a whole lot when his shot is on - he's also proven that when he's not hitting his shots he is much more of liability. Many times (like in tonight's loss to the Knicks) he forces bad shots (at least 2 crucial time tonight) and really costs the Sonics dearly.
Almost EVERY game, he makes little effort to play defense leaving the opposing player to score almost as much or more as he - and he's not setting a good example for his teamates as well as taking away good looks for some of our other players. Jamaal Crawford worked him for 31 points in tonight's loss to the Knicks!! Ray barely even waived his arms at him as he constantly drove past him to the hoop.
Unfortunately, I don't think that the Sonics - or any team with Ray Allen will ever get to the finals. If he would just learn to "think" and play defense the Sonics would be so much better off.
Flip may take some bad shots, but so does Ray - and at least Flip plays some tough D.
This loss hurts bad - to a terrible team at home - and in my opinion due to a lack of Ray's effort on D and him taking some really crappy shots.
